Working with Tablets as remote controllers
Introduction
Working with tablets as remote controllers can be a convenient way to control your sound system without being tied to a specific location in the venue. With a Holophonix processor, or a Mac running Holophonix Native, you can use a tablet to control the sound system remotely, allowing you to move around the venue and adjust the sound as needed.
You can connect as many remote controllers as you want, and they will all be able to control the sound system simultaneously. This can be useful for large venues where multiple people need to adjust the sound at the same time. This allows for multiple users to interact with a different set of sources position for example, in the case where one sound engineer would not be able to control all the sources at the same time.
Setting up a Tablet/Laptop as a Remote Controller
Supported platforms
- iPad OS
- iPadOS 17 or later is supported.
- MacOS
- MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later is supported.
- Android
- Android 12 or later is supported.
- Windows
- Windows 10 or later is supported.
iPad 6th gen is not supported, as it is missing support for some webGL features, which are required for the Holophonix remote to work.

Supported browsers
The Holophonix remote supports chromium-based browsers. Check if your browser is chromium based at this link.
Keep your browser up to date to ensure the best performance and compatibility with the Holophonix remote.
Network connection
On your tablet/laptop, open a web browser and navigate to the IP address of your Holophonix processor or Mac running Holophonix Native, followed by the port number 4748. For example: http://192.168.1.100:4748.
If your network if configured with hostnames, you can also use the hostname of your Holophonix processor or Mac running Holophonix Native instead of the IP address. For example: http://holophonix.local:4748.
Make sure that your tablet/laptop is connected to the same local network as your Holophonix processor or Mac running Holophonix Native.
Once you have entered the correct IP address and port number, you should see the Holophonix remote interface on your tablet/laptop. You can now use the remote to control your sound system from anywhere in the venue.
Tips for touch enabled tablets/laptops
In order to get the best experience when using a touch enabled tablet/laptop as a remote controller, here are some tips:
- Set the object size to a larger value, to make it easier to select and move sources with your fingers. See the Object size section for more information.
- Use the Direct Grab mode to allow to move sources directly by touching them, without having to select them first. See the Direct Grab section for more information.
