Transformer Arranger
The Transformer / Arranger window operates on the current selection of Sources, Speakers or Buses — a single element (including a multichannel source or a group) or several at once. It exposes two tools that share the same reference controls and live preview:
- Transform Selection — translate, rotate and scale the selection around a chosen reference point.
- Arrange Selection — lay out the selection along a Line, an Arc, a Sphere or inside a Bounding Box.
Both tools follow the same workflow: drag sliders to preview the result in red over the Venue, then commit with APPLY.
Opening the Window
Any selection activates the tool — a single element or several. Entry points:
- The Venue right-click menu, under Transform (modes, reference) or Arrangement (quick shape presets).
- The Inspector when a multi-selection is active.
Tools
Transform Selection
Three rows of XYZ inputs — Offset (metres), Rotate (degrees), Scale — plus a Global Scale multiplier. Every input previews live and only commits on Apply.
Arrange Selection
A Shape selector followed by the parameters of the chosen shape. See Shape Selectors below.
Reference Source
The Reference Source sets where the operation is centered. The same picker drives both tools.
Selection
The barycenter of the current multi-selection. Default. Recomputed live as the selection moves.
Origin
The world origin (0, 0, 0).
Bus N
Any existing bus, picked by name. The bus's reference.xyz is used, and the reference follows the bus if it moves while the window is open. Useful when arranging a group of sources around a local listening point.
Control Zone
The position of a previously declared control zone. Only available when the Bounding Box shape is active.
Manual Override
X / Y / Z inputs nudge the resolved reference by hand. The override stays attached to the chosen source; switching the Reference Source clears it.
Reset
Drops any manual override and returns to the auto-resolved reference.
Live Preview Overlay
The Venue previews the result in red while you tune the operation:
- Red points mark the future positions of the selection.
- Red lines connect each item to the chosen reference, showing how the operation is anchored.
The same overlay is reused by:
- The Venue right-click Arrangement submenu — hovering an entry previews it before you click.
- The Add Source / Add Bus / Add Speaker dialogs, when you create new objects with a Layout.
Shape Selectors
Line
A single distance slider sets the spacing between consecutive items. Line arrangements do not rotate the items.
Arc
Three parameters:
- Radius — metres.
0falls back to the spread of the selection. - Opening Width — total angle of the arc, in degrees. Defaults to
360°(full ring). - Start Angle — azimuth of the first item, in degrees. Rotates the arc as a whole without changing its width or radius.
Items on an Arc auto-orient toward the arc's center (see Orientation Targets below).
Sphere
A single distance slider sets the sphere radius. Items are distributed on the sphere and auto-orient toward the sphere center.
Bounding Box
Distributes items on the surface of a parametric box.
- Segments X / Y / Z — grid resolution.
- Scale X / Y / Z and Offset X / Y / Z — box dimensions and center.
- Rotation X / Y / Z — box orientation.
- Grid — show the box grid in the Venue while editing.
- Only Z — restrict the projection to the vertical axis (drop items onto the top/bottom face only).
Items that fall outside the box on every axis snap to the nearest face rather than being dropped from the layout.
The Bounding Box shape uses its own reference (the box center) regardless of the Reference Source picker; switch shapes if you need to anchor around a bus or a control zone.
Orientation Targets
Sphere and Arc arrangements rotate each item to face the layout center automatically. The target can be one of:
origin— the world origin.busN— the position of bus numberN.speakergroupN— the center of a speaker groupN.sourcegroupN— the center of a source groupN.
Group orientation is preserved when the new items are aggregated into a group: with a non-zero offset, the resulting group itself faces the target. Line arrangements do not rotate items.
Apply
Shape and transform sliders preview the result live; nothing is written to the selection until you click Apply.
- APPLY commits the deltas and resets the sliders to their neutral position (translate →
0, rotate →0°, scale →1, arc opening →360°, etc.). Each Apply produces a single undo step. - Reset drops any preview without committing.
- Each tool has its own Apply / Reset pair, disabled while the sliders are at neutral.
